Project stages

The INFRAREGTUR project will run for 32 months and include five stages:

I: The Preparatory Phase

II: An analysis of spatial accessibility

III: Identification of factors for development potential

IV: A synthesis of the results and preparation of the publication

V: Dissemination and promotion of the results


 

Stage I: The Preparatory Phase

Implementation period: from August 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010.

Main tasks:
- preliminary preparations;
- preparing drafts of structures;
- preliminary preparation and creating a website;
- building up cooperation with representatives of public administrations and other institutions on the Polish-Slovak border;
- gathering and studying literature and planning documents, strategies, etc.;
- creating an integrated database;
- identifying areas for local studies;
- preparation of integrated Polish-Slovak mapping primers.

Stage II: An analysis of spatial accessibility

 

Implementation period: from February 1, 2010 to September 30, 2010.

Main tasks:
- analysis of current regional development plans at the national, regional and local levels;
- analysis of compiled data and cartographic materials;
- development of guidelines, and analysis of spatial accessibility to and from major tourist centers (existing and potential) for the whole border area, both in the domestic and cross-border systems (including the designated local areas);
- completing analyses of actual state and planned access to tourist areas;
- identification and analysis of the Polish-Slovak tourist interaction.

Stage III: Identification of factors for development potential

Implementation period: from October 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011.

Main tasks:
- identifying current and future tourism potential in the border area;
- performing analysis and identifying the factors associated with the potential for tourism development;
- searching for opportunities to improve spatial accessibility and its impact on tourism development;
- determining the impact of tourism on the socio-economic development of the region;
- analysis of the interrelationships between infrastructure, tourism development and environmental protection;
- consultations with the administration and organizations involved in tourism and infrastructure.

Stage IV: A synthesis of the results and preparation of the publication

Implementation period: from June 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011.

Main tasks:
- developing the final version of the website;
- preparation and publication of two books in three languages;
- Organizing a conference summarizing the project.

Stage V: Dissemination and promotion of the results

Implementation period: from October 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012.

Main tasks:
-preparation of promotional materials;
- implementation of the final workshop (summary);
- submitting the results to all interested units of public administration.
